I love canopies over beds. Maybe it’s the romantic in me, or maybe it’s just that I have a sub-conscious fear of mosquitos… whatever the case – they’re beautiful!

What I didn’t realise until recently is that you don’t have to have a four-poster bed in a grand palace to be able to have a canopy over your bed (although I wouldn’t turn it away if someone offered it to me!) – and you don’t have to have a traditional-French-style bedroom to do it either. There are a whole range of different canopies that suit different decorating styles:

The last two are my favourites! I love “puddling” of curtains – you know how they drape beautifully and puddle perfectly on the floor… I guess I am a romantic at heart! Unfortunately I’ve decided to go for quite a minimalistic style for our bedroom – but there are a couple of examples there that could be used in a minimalistic bedroom. (Now to convince the husband…!)

By the way, if anyone out there knows of a palace for sale that is around the $400,000 mark, please let me know!
